EMILY COX (Choir Director)
Emily Cox has been Choir Director at St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point since the re-founding of St Mary’s Choir in 1994. One of the leading lights of the Australian Choral scene, Emily is founding Music Director of Canticum Chamber Choir, Music Director of the acclaimed symphonic choir The Brisbane Chorale and Lecturer (part-time) in choral studies at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, where she teaches conducting and directs the Conservatorium Chamber Choir. A leading diocesan musician, Emily is widely known in Brisbane for her work as Artistic & Musical Director of Anglicare’s PromPraise, for which she directs the PromPraise Choir, a 200-350 voice massed choir from up of Anglican Parishes and Schools from around southeast Queensland. She is actively involved in the education programmes of the RSCM Australia leading choral conducting and singing workshops, and appearing as guest tutor and conductor at RSCM summer Schools.

A graduate of Dartmouth College (U.S.A.) and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Emily has worked overseas on numerous occasions with noted specialists in her field. She is known widely for her work as a festival and workshop director, adjudicator and choral educator for all age groups. As a conductor and chorus master with a broad repertoire, Emily's work is in demand with professional performing arts companies, such as The Queensland Orchestra, and major arts festivals. Her ensemble, Canticum Chamber Choir recently returned from its appearance as an invited Guest Choir at the prestigious 7th World Symposium on Choral Music, held in Kyoto, Japan, followed by a successful concert tour of central Japan. Through Canticum's concert series 'Choral Music for Brisbane', as well as through the innovative repertoire she explores with all her other ensembles, she continually introduces Brisbane audiences to many unusual and beautiful works.
