Information for prospective choir members

St Mary’s Choir is an auditioned 12-18 mixed-voice volunteer choir directed by Emily Cox.  The choir sings on alternating Sundays at the 9am Service with rehearsals on preceding Thursday evenings from 7.30-9pm, and at 8am prior to the 9am Service.  Additional rehearsal times are scheduled for special services.  To view the current choir schedule click here.

To become a member of the Choir it is desirable to have the following skills (or some combination thereof!)

·previous choral experience

· competent singing technique

· good musicianship (i.e., competent sight-singing in a choral context, good ear for intonation, learning music, and blend)

·desire to participate in the provision of music in the context of worship.

 The audition for the choir consists of participating in a choir rehearsal, vocalise, basic ear tests, and simple melodic and rhythmic sight-singing.
