Choir Director / Organist / Music Director
EMILY COX (conductor) and CHRISTOPHER WRENCH (organist)
represent one of Australia's most formidable musical partnerships.
As husband and wife musicians, Christopher and Emily stand at
the forefront of their respective fields, having devoted themselves
to the development of choral and organ music through their work as
liturgical musicians, concert artists, and teachers.
Since their appointment to St Mary's in 1994 they have led a revolution in the musical life ot the parish, overseeing the re-establishment of St Mary's musical tradition, including the formation of St Mary's 'mixed-voice' choir, the appointment of choral and organ scholars, the introduction of special evening Choral Liturgies (Choral Sunsets), the creation of Music at St Mary's concert series, and the establishment of St Mary's Music Foundation.
In the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane, Christopher and Emily have spearheaded such ventures as Anglicare's PromPraise, of which Emily was Artistic Director. Through this work they led and inspired hundreds of singers from parishes and schools throughout the diocese.
In addition to their work at St Mary's, Christopher & Emily's musical projects have included numerous collaborations with local musicians and arts organizations such as the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and the Queensland Ballet, including the two highly acclaimed ballet productions ('Passion' & 'St. Francis of Assisi') at St John's Cathedral for the 'original' Cathedrals Week.
